S2, E2: Brought to You by Men Everywhere

Our dears,
Once again, the question must be asked: Why are men?
Why do they insist they are right time and time again, despite their unparalleled wrongness? Why do they infantilize colleagues with uteruses who are experienced in their fields and confident in their skills?
Honestly--aside from our patriarchal society--we don't really know. But in this week's episode, we're introducing some informed-ish speculation. Join us for this week's episode, featuring decades-old questions and kvetchin' fresh answers.

Episode 20: Season 1 Send-off (Thanks, SCOTUS!)
Tuesday Sep 21, 2021
Tuesday Sep 21, 2021
CW: Abortion
At midnight on September 1, 2021, the Texas heartbeat law (also known as SB-8) took effect with near-total silence from SCOTUS.
There is no question about intent: This is blatantly anti-woman. There is no pro-life argument with legs to stand on.
In this, our last episode of season one, we explore issues of bodily autonomy, male accountability, and the many blatant attacks being launched on women and people of marginalized gender in the recent past. It's a heavy episode that we're launching at a heavy time on behalf of abuses past, present, and (unfortunately) yet to come.
Snakes, take care of one another. Be good to each other. Wear your masks. Hang onto those snake tokens. We'll be back before you know it for season 2.

Episode 19: Schrödinger‘s PMS
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
CW: Uterine health issues, pregnancy
Please note: This episode was produced prior to the passing of SB 8, the "Texas Heartbeat Act." In our next episode, we plan to address these injustices.
Women and people with uteruses are often othered in the workplace. Any show of emotion (i.e. stress, anxiety, sadness) is tacked up to "hormones"--while men's anger is considered not only palatable, but a leadership quality. This feels a lot more like a male-driven conscious ignorance of the true body horror that anyone with a uterus undergoes before, during, or after their period, or during pregnancy, or even during menopause. In this episode, we address a little-addressed issue: the ever-evolving range of symptoms / bodily dysfunctions that, at any given time, may or may not be indicative of PMS, pregnancy, or menopause--a syndrome otherwise known as Schrödinger's PMS.

Episode 18: You Don‘t Own Me
Thursday Sep 02, 2021
Thursday Sep 02, 2021
CW: War, terrorism, terrorism toward women, abuses toward women, post-natal women’s issues
2021 has met us with advances in technology and mountains of platforms we may use to speak--yet still, for women and people with uteruses, progress has stalled or even reverted. Most urgently, in Afghanistan, women are fearing for their lives and rights as they are stripped away under the Taliban. Globally, women are viewed and often treated as cattle, best used for breeding and nurturing children and then, having fulfilled that purpose, being led to societal pasture.
If you haven't guessed, we're angry--and we're guessing many of you are, too. This week, join us as we chat about some pertinent women's issues while pushing against the idea that this is somehow liberation.
If you would like to send support to women in Afghanistan during this time, here are some great organizations to learn about, share, and, if possible, financially support:

Episode 17: The Song That Never Ends
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
Do you remember the song that never ends--that infinite-loop ditty brought to you by Shari Lewis and Lambchop? We do, and fairly fondly at that.
Less fond are we, however, of the more recent infinite loop in which we find ourselves--the one in which we live through a pandemic, start to make hints of progress, watch as antivaccination and antimask citizens scream "oppression" when asked to take precautions for other human lives...and eventually push our way backwards into pandemic level two/wave four. This is the pandemic that never ends.
You've heard it here first, and you've heard it here most: The Delta variant, and several subsequent and more frightening variants in its wake, are actively working their way through the globe. In this episode, we'll discuss recent updates in this nightmarish cycle and kvetch about the little-to-nothing that officials and fellow citizens are doing to slow the rise of COVID cases.

Episode 16: Breaking News Variety Hour
Tuesday Jul 27, 2021
Tuesday Jul 27, 2021
In this episode, listen as Hosts 1 and 2 come to you from the not so distant past to predict our collective fate! Chills, spills, and thrills continue to unfold even weeks after this episode was recorded. (Just look at the CDC's latest announcement recommending that even vaccinated people wear masks inside again. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST AND YOU CAN'T UNHEAR IT. We'll have a LOT to say on that in our next episode.)
So place your bets, ladies and snakes. Have your friends join in the fun. And, quite honestly, keep your fingers crossed that some of these are way off base.

Episode 15: Dammit, Delta!
Tuesday Jul 13, 2021
Tuesday Jul 13, 2021
Listeners, snakes: Remember COVID-19? Remember how quickly that situation was "resolved," and we were told it was "safe to return to work" and "weird to keep wearing masks"? [/sarcasm]
As predicted (not only by ourselves, but also by global experts), we are now faced with the Delta Variant: a more transmissible COVID-19 variant that's spreading and mutating with great speed. Why aren't we taking measures to slow the spread of the variant? Three words: profit over people. In this episode, we share what we've learned about this new strain, and kvetch about the greed that's preventing the country from taking protective measures.
